Trauma-informed therapy
Painful or frightening experiences can stay with us long after they’re over, shaping how safe we feel, how we relate to others, and how we cope from day to day. I offer a warm, steady space to make sense of what happened and its effects, at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Trauma isn’t only the result of a single event. It can grow from ongoing stress, difficult relationships, loss, or experiences from earlier in life that still echo now. Whatever brought you here, you don’t have to explain it all at once, or before you’re ready.
What trauma can feel like
People come to trauma-informed therapy for many different reasons. You might recognise some of these, or none of them, and still find therapy helpful:
- Feeling anxious, on edge, or unable to switch off
- Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or broken sleep
- Feeling numb, disconnected, or not quite yourself
- Finding it hard to trust, or to feel safe with others
- Reactions that feel bigger than the moment seems to call for
- Carrying shame or blame that was never yours to hold
How I work with trauma
My approach is trauma-informed, and that shapes everything about how we work together. It means moving at your pace, never pushing you to revisit more than feels safe, and putting real care into building trust first. You stay in choice the whole way through.
I work in an integrative, relational way, drawing on different approaches to fit you rather than fitting you to a method. Together we can gently make sense of the past, understand how it shows up in the present, and build a greater sense of safety, steadiness and self-compassion.
I have a particular interest in this work, and I’m currently training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a well-established approach for processing traumatic memories. This training is deepening the way I understand and support trauma in my practice.
If you’re in crisis or need urgent support, therapy isn’t the fastest source of help. Your GP, or the Samaritans (freephone 116 123, any time), can be there for you right away.

Common questions
Do you offer EMDR?
I’m currently training in EMDR and am not yet offering it as a standalone therapy. I work in a trauma-informed way now, and my EMDR training is deepening that work.
Will I have to talk about the trauma in detail?
Not before you’re ready. Trauma-informed therapy means going at your pace and never pushing you to revisit more than feels safe. You stay in choice throughout.
Is trauma therapy available online?
Yes. Sessions are available online by secure video anywhere in Ireland, or in person in Bray, Co. Wicklow. Both cost €80 per 50-minute session.
